FAQs

Do you offer an anti-fat tax discount?

YES! If you need 7+ skeins for your project (garments only please!) you can use code SIZEINCLUSIVE at checkout to get a discount. You do not need to email us. You do not need to do anything but use the code at checkout. This IS on the honor system. I don’t want to have to check orders to make sure this code is being used properly so please use it for the purpose it is intended for. It has happened where it was used just because. I AM a small business. I want to be inclusive. Please allow us to continue to be this way by not abusing the discount when it is not for you or your project.

How do you dye your yarn?

Most of our colors are dyed using a full immersion method and acid dyes. We use food-grade citric acid (think sour patch kids!), and layer different colors at timed intervals throughout the dyeing process. Our recipes are written to dye 6 skeins at a time, so some magic has to happen to whittle that down to 1 or 2 skeins to achieve the same effect. We do the best that we can to maintain consistency but have many, many variables stacked against us.

The environment is very important to us so we try to use as little water as possible during the process and recycle the used water as much as we can. Our goal is to complete an entire wholesale order on only 4 stock pots of H20. We can achieve this by grouping colors together and starting with the lightest color and ending with the darkest. The water we use is well water and has no added chemicals. When the water leaves the studio it is ph tested to make sure it goes back into the ground the same way it came out. We also strive to use as little plastic as possible. We want your yarn to arrive unharmed but in the least impactful way we can. Your mailers are also made for double use!

Where does your yarn come from?

Our Merino fibers come from various sources (not Australia).  We specify that none of our merino fibers are to come from farms practicing mulesing.  You can be confident that our Merino is mulesing-free.

Our non-supewash Merino is Australian Merino and comes from muesling-free facilities. The Shaniko wool is US-grown.

Our Superwash Merino comes from Argentina and Uruguay.  It is sourced from many farms of varying sizes, from smaller to larger farms.

How do I care for superwash?

Superwash is easy to care for. I recommend steam-blocking your knits and laying them flat to dry. You can throw them in the wash- but detergent can wear down the fibers and the dye so handwashing IS recommended. Superwash can also grow when wet- LIKE A LOT. I prefer to spot clean to avoid the growing that generally happens when items are soaked through.

I have a yarn store. Do you offer wholesale?

Why thank you! We're flattered that you would like to share us with your customers! Please email us at ryan@saltyblondefiber.com for inquiries!

What inspires you?

I am inspired by literally everything I see! Beauty is all around if you look close enough. I'm a huge music nerd and name a lot of my colors after songs and bands. In addition to music, I'm a lover of all things art, design, architecture, books, fashion, but most of all, nature, and am endlessly inspired by the world around me in my home in beautiful Colorado.

I’m a designer and your yarn is perfect for a design I have in mind!

Well, let's get you some yarn so you can get to work!!! Send me an email at ryan@saltyblondefiber.com! I'm also happy to work with you on color combinations and/or kits for your design(s).
